Turbo blowers use a single high-speed centrifugal impeller, driven by a permanent magnet motor on magnetic or air bearings. This eliminates mechanical contact between moving parts, unlike a conventional lobe blower.
The result is a more energy-efficient unit, with lower noise and vibration levels, and no need for lubrication or the belts and gears typical of lobe technology.
In treatment plants they are mainly used for activated sludge aeration, where the equipment’s energy savings offset its higher initial cost compared to a conventional blower in continuous-use operations.
